8000 m  →   8000 m peak list

The eight-thousanders are the fourteen independent mountains on Earth that are more than 8,000 m above sea level. They are all located in the Himalayan and Karakoram mountain ranges in Asia. The generally accepted list of fourteen eight-thousanders is obtained if one uses a topographic prominence cutoff between 200 and 500 m. Have a look at the relief map to see where the fourteen eight-thousanders are located (Zoom in for details...).

The 8000 m peak list includes prominent subpeaks of the fourteen eight-thousanders which were all climbed except the Manaslu South-East peak with a height of 8010 m. Maybe this peak can be claimed the last remaining unclimbed 8000 m peak of the world and be another challenge for coming Himalayan expeditions...

The following picture shows all SRTM points above 8000 m. The missing point where Shishapangma is located may result from erroneous and incorrect SRTM data or the point was just not detected because of the too wide meshed resolution grid.
